IMCAS held WDCM training course for Microbial Data Analysis

WDCM training course for Microbial Data Analysis organized by WFCC-MIRCEN World Data Center for Microorganisms(WDCM), Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was held at November 21-30 , 2018 in Beijing, China.

14 trainees from 10 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, etc., attended the event.

Developing countries are rich in microbial resources; however there are considerable gaps in terms of data management and sharing of resources in these counties. This training course, opening to members of WFCC from developing countries, aims to help the staff of these countries’ culture collections thoroughly acquire knowledge on microbial culture collection and taxonomic experiment skills, learn about the development trend and technical advancement in the field of microbiological informatics, learn to manipulate microbial resource databases and their management platforms, and master other informational technique as well. The microbiologists discussed such important issues as data standards, databases, software and platform for microbial resources sharing, regional and national culture collections’ works, utilization of microbial resources information as well as WDCM activities and future work.
