The World Data Center for Microorganisms 8th Symposium—GCM 2.0 type strain sequencing project workshop

The World Data Center for Microorganisms 8th Symposium—GCM 2.0 type strain sequencing project workshop organized by WFCC-MIRCEN World Data Center for Microorganisms(WDCM), Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was held on November 21-22 , 2018 in Beijing, China.

Over 60 scientists from 14 countries attended the event. The microbiologists discussed issues like data standards, databases, software and platform for microbial resources sharing, work of regional and national culture collections, utilization of microbial resources information as well as WDCM activities and future work.

Global Catalogue of Microorganisms (GCM)’s led type strain sequencing project is an international coordinated effort to close current gaps in the genomic maps of microbes and hence to promote research through deep mining of the genomic data. At the meeting, global taxonomists, microbiologists and bioinformaticians all over the world who would be interested in cooperating on data analysis and publication of the genome sequencing discussed for further discussion.
